There's something very disconcerting about waking up before the sun comes up. Seriously, if god had wanted us to get up when it was still dark out, he wouldn't have given us eyelids.

"I don't know how you can stand to drink it black," she countered. "Besides, it's like having coffee and a doughnut all in one without the extra fat. It's really a very sensible diet strategy."

I woke up thinking I must be making progress. Usually in my dreams I ran them over after I set them on fire.

My eyes grew wide with recognition. "You're the assho - uh, guy from the phone?" I quickly corrected.
"Yes. I'm the asshole."
This was awkward.

I could imagine the conversation at work on Monday. "What did you do over the weekend, Hailey?" "Not much, I was taken over by a man in my Kindle."

"Let me get this straight," he began finally. "You've accepted that you are essentially possessed by a supernatural being who trapped himself in your Kindle to avoid destruction by a sociopathic outlaw, but you are questioning if the process is technically feasible?"

While drinking her morning coffee before work one day, Hailey Parrish realizes that she has way too many books. When she checks her email, there's one from Amazon, touting their latest Kindle - with special offers - for $79. One click and one day shipping later, Hailey is the proud owner of more than she bargained for.

Sebastian Kess is an enforcer of sorts from a parallel dimension. While on a mission, Sebastian ran into some trouble, and his essence ended up in what would soon be Hailey's Kindle. When she turns her Kindle on, Sebastian moves out of the Kindle and into Hailey. Let the fun begin!

Strange things start to happen to Hailey, and she feels like she's losing her mind. Enter Alex Sunderland, the oh-so-handsome and sexy man who just might be the one to break her three-year dateless streak. After an interesting evening at the bar, Hailey is pretty sure she's ready for a mental hospital. Alex follows her home and tries to explain the situation to Hailey.

Alex and Hailey work on finding out where Sebastian's body is so they can get him out of Hailey. Taking an impromptu vacation from her chinchilla-milking job, she jets off with Alex on a quest to make Sebastian whole again.

Hailey copes pretty well with all the things she learns about Sebastian, Alex, the parallel dimension, and magic. She doesn't flip out, and gets some sweet revenge on Sebastian a few times. And I will never look at chopsticks the same way again.

Some fun things to watch out for in Special Offers  are the shower scene (why is it always a shower?), the great coffee debate (black or not?), her new-found love (HA!) of scotch, and of course, the interaction between Sebastian and Hailey.  Also, she doesn't put in too many appearances, but Hailey's mother is entertaining, too. I love her ring tone!

Special Offers is delightful read with action, adventure, romance and magic. With the cliffhanger ending, I'm very glad that the second book in the series, Special Rewards, is already out. That way, I don't have to wait too long to find out what happens next!
