Hello, my name is Nicole and unfortunately, D.N. Simmons can’t make it today. She’s tied up…. literally tied up. I wanted to take this opportunity to finally reap the recognition owed to me. Now, D.N.’s been on many interviews, blabbing about how great her series is, how ‘highly entertaining’ and whatnot… and it is, don’t get me wrong. The series is amazing and any urban-fantasy fan would be surely missing out by NOT reading it. But I digress, D.N.’s been patting herself on the back for coming up with the series, and truth be told, it’s me who she should be giving recognition to. Me! I’m her Muse, dammit and I deserve respect! Whenever an interviewer asks her ‘What was your inspiration for the series’, she mentions everything and everyone but ME! Oh, she’s loved vampires and shape-shifters since childhood. Or how about this one; she’s read so many great Urban-fantasy and Paranormal Romance books out there, but they were just missing that spark that ignited her. Well, I’m here to tell you, I’m that ‘spark’.
If it weren’t for me whispering in her ear, giving her ideas on how to make the perfect Urban-fantasy series, SHE’D still be talking about writing one instead of actually doing it! But here I sit, thankless on many interviews. I’m the one who inspired her to create characters so real, they damn near literally step off of the pages and into your lives. They seduce you, humor you, love you as you love them and some, well they’ll terrify you. She didn’t come up with them on her own… that was all me. Oh and did I mention that it was Yours Truly who gave Miss Little It’s All About Me the idea to do away with the usual formula for writing UF/PNR and create a series about characters and not just one main character or couple? Do you know how fun it is to read about the exciting things going on in this series from multiple character point of views? Just ask all the fans of the series, and they’ll tell you, ‘it’s freaking awesome!’.
You know what, I’m sorry. I’ve been stealing her Author Guest Spots ranting and raving and going on and on about how the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles wouldn’t be the series it is today without me. Truth is, D.N. and I, we need each other. These ideas were just floating around in my head with no means to put them to paper. D.N. is my vessel and I’m her inspiration.
