Genre: Paranormal Romance
Date of Publication: May 7th 2013

Cover Artist: Mark Paterson

“He’s destroying me—us. I need him like my next breath, yet I’m suffocating.”

An unrequited love that has ripped her to pieces.

Delara has loved Waleron for over a century. Their intense chemistry is sensual, gripping, irresistible. But tragedy struck, and after sixty-one years of believing he was dead, Waleron returns a tortured man. He claims the man she loves is dead, yet the undeniable sexual tension still pulls them together.

“I am no longer the man you love, maitagarri. I am incapable of it.”

Waleron has given his oath to protect the Senses. He will sacrifice everything for them. But there is one Senses he has vowed to protect more than any other—Delara. He will do anything to make certain she is safe, even if it means he must deny her the love they once shared.

She is the hunted.

Delara’s life is in jeopardy and Waleron will do anything to protect her. But he never suspected that Xamien, the man he brings to help protect her is way more important to her than he ever knew.

Torn between two men and hunted by another, Delara must fight her hardest battle—herself.

I am Xamien’s secret lover. Well, in my head I am and since I’m single this is completely allowed. Some of you may ask, who is Xamien, don’t worry you will meet him soon enough, but no falling in love with him. He is all mine.

Writing books is a fantastic way to have adventures that are impossible to have otherwise. I mean do you really want to fall in love with Waleron? He is so unstable and would never pick up after your dogs or clean the litter box. Not to mention the fact that he is always out killing disgusting grave robbing bug people.

Curling up with a good book and losing yourself to another time and place is the greatest reward. Being able to feel a character’s emotions, their fears, pain and love. Now that is incredible. I relish in the books that stay with me long after they have ended. This is what I strive for in my writing. To give the readers, and myself, an escape into another world, my world.

I have been writing since I was twelve. My parents, sorry mom and dad, would send me to my room for an hour every night to do homework, and instead I wrote stories. Oops, guess that is why I did so bad in math.

I have never stopped writing since then and never will. It’s like an addiction, but a good one. I adore stepping into the shoes of a character and deciding their fate. The characters are why I write. I want to fall in love with them (even the bad ones), so that I care about what happens to them in a story. If I can’t care about the characters then why bother with the story.

I live in Toronto with a menagerie of pets that keep me on my toes.

Excerpt:
“Yeah I’ll talk to him,” Xamien said. He picked up his glass, swirled the clear liquid twice and then took a long drawl. Well, it wasn’t like there would be any sex happening here. The movement of the alcohol sent a wave of its scent through the air and she smelled the coolness of straight vodka. Simple and direct, just like him. He told her what he wanted and what he didn’t want. That was exactly how both of them wanted—simple. Sex on occasion and no strings.

Xamien cleared his throat while setting his glass down. “Oh we have lots of strings Kitten. Or would you rather call them chains?”

Her eyes darted to his face and she noticed the twinkle in his eyes. Amusement. He was toying with her and it riled her further. “So are the rumors true?” She offered a smile in return and raised both brows. “Are you really as piss poor in bed as they say you are?”

“Playing with fire, sweetness.”

“Friggin’ Christ, Delara!” Jedrik shouted slapping the heel of his hand on his forehead in utter disbelief.

Keir stood, knocking over his chair in the process. Damien’s shoes crunched across the glass on the floor and he left the room.

Xamien laughed; his deep baritone filling the room, the sound having both Keir and Jedrik stunned. Keir sat again and refilled his glass then sat back looking from one to the other.

“And you’re so asking for it.” “Playful and cute,” Xamien said. “And if you weren’t...” his grin widened and he winked, “...in love with another man I’d suggest you find out for yourself.”

“Don’t bring him into this.” She scrunched her hands into her jeans.

“He’s always in it, Kitten.” He reached for his glass and swallowed the last of the vodka. He strode towards her and she straightened, raised her chin and met his brooding expression head on, despite the emotions running havoc on her body. She was holding her own considering her secret lover was here and speaking telepathically about their interludes while the Talde watched with no idea that something was being said in-between words. But it was dangerous. One of them was going to find out if Xamien didn’t get his ass back to Spain. Alone.

He stopped inches away from her now heaving chest and she felt Jedrik’s hand on her forearm. Xamien eyes were somber with a hint of indecision, as if he was deciding whether to goad her further or not. Refusing to back away, she waited the several seconds before Xamien tilted his head to the side in a nod.

“I can see why he loves you.” Xamien’s expression was thoughtful. “I hope he realizes he does soon before some other man sweeps you into his heart.”

Dumbfounded by his words, Delara’s only reaction was to drop her jaw and stare. Xamien rarely mentioned her love for Waleron. It was one of those things they kept out of their conversations. But he knew about all of it, had lived her memories during mind weaving. Then, when they first hooked up after the Trinity scenario many years ago, well she’d been so hurt that she’d blurted her pain to him. He must have heard it in her thoughts, but she didn’t know he could read her mind yet. They’d never mentioned Waleron since.

The first giveaway is for winner's choice of either Jump (Book One in the Senses series) or Step (Book Two in the Senses series). The second giveaway is for a $100 Amazon gift card! Good luck <3

I am beyond thrilled to be part of the launch blitz for Tiffany King's first NA contemporary romance, No Attachments. This book will rock your world!

No Attachments by Tiffany King
NA Contemporary Romance
Publication Date: April 28, 2013

Ashton Garrison walked away from a privileged life in order to hide from the one thing she's not willing to face. She knows she left behind a trail of pain, but in the long run, her betrayal will hurt less than the truth. She now has one goal: Live life to the fullest with no regrets and no attachments. She has high hopes that a move to new surroundings will provide the escape she desires, but what Ashton doesn't count on is how fate always seems to find a way to screw up any good plan. Sometimes, when love comes knocking, the pull is too strong not to answer. Suddenly, what she thought she wanted to escape from is what Ashton now wants more than anything.

Nathan Lockton has one mission: find his target and complete the task he was hired to do—no attachments and no emotion necessary. He's done it over and over again. What he thought was a typical lost-and-found job has turned into a life examining moment as Nathan is forced to deal with something he has always ignored--his feelings. Now faced with a decision, Nathan must choose to either follow his heart or complete the job.

Love can come when you least expect it. The question is: If the odds are stacked against you, how far are you willing to go for the one you love?
** Recommended for ages 17+ due to sexual situations, language and mature subject matter **

I was joking around with Tiffany on Twitter while putting this post together, saying that I'm going to make a separate post for my favorite quotes, since I highlighted half the book. Here are a couple fun ones!
The moment I entered the bar, I seemed to ignore every rule I'd ever set. My rules were simple enough that a fucking two-year old could follow them.
"Well, shit," I grumbled when I found myself flat on my back at his feet. Would there be no end to embarrassing myself in front of him?
If I'd had any thoughts that his voice only sounded sinful the night before because of the amount of alcohol I had consumed, I was delusional.
I felt more in control once I had the plan worked out in my head, despite the small voice that told me I was full of shit.
I'll admit that I haven't read a lot of New Adult novels yet. I also need to be honest here - No Attachments  was my first Tiffany King read. It will not, however, be my last. I had already bought a couple of her others, but hadn't gotten to them yet.

When the opportunity to read and review No Attachments  came, I decided to give it a try. I AM NOT SORRY AT ALL.  Yes, that required emphasis. I could write pages and pages about how much I loved this book, but it would take days. So I'm just going to ramble a bit. :) No Attachments  is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a contemporary romance with strong, spunky characters.

Ashton Garrison has moved to Woodfalls, a small town where everybody knows everybody else. In this town, she can start over after leaving her old life behind. Ash has a list of things that she'd like to do someday, and with the new start she decides there's no time like the present.

Nathan Lockton has a job to do. Get in, do the job, get out. Nothing else needs to be done. No emotion, no attachments. It's just another job.

Ashton wants a one night stand with no attachments and no regrets. From the moment she and her friends start talking in the bar, I was hooked. Once Ash approaches Nathan, the fun really begins. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to look at a trunk the same way again. :)

Tiffany King does a wonderful job telling the story from alternating viewpoints. We get the opportunity to see where both Ashton and Nathan are coming from. Ashton is running from something (not telling!) and Nathan has a job to do.

While the reader is aware of some things almost immediately, there are still others that are expanded on throughout the story. As each chapter flies by, we learn more and more about these wonderful people. I started No Attachments  late evening on a Sunday, and did not stop until I reached the end around 2 AM. I was not going to sleep until I finished this amazing story.

I became so wrapped up with these fascinating characters that I didn't want this story to end. I would go to Woodfalls to hang out with Ashton and the girls, maybe have a double date with Nathan and Ashton. Perhaps my guy could pick up a few pointers. :) And I can totally relate to Ashton's feelings and reactions the morning after the bar - been there, almost did that.

There are so many great scenes in this book, but I don't want to say too much here, so here are a few words for you: snow, picnic, canoe, bar, darts, trunk, kitty...yeah. That's enough of a teaser!

I have to give a shout out to Fran. Every small town I've ever been in has a Fran, and Tiffany King wrote her well. Ashton's best friends are also a lot of fun, as are others in the town. Every single character has a voice of their own, and that's another thing I loved about No Attachments.

But this is truly Ashton and Nathan's story, and it's told to perfection. At times I smiled, laughed, and cheered. At others, I groaned, bitched, and yelled. There were times I sobbed - some happy tears, some sad ones. I highly recommend reading this when you have open time because you won't want to put it down. I also suggest having a box of tissues close by...you're going to need it.

Book Blitz and Giveaway: The Only Exception by Magan Vernon

Ever since the cover reveal, I've REALLY been looking forward to this!

The Only Exception by Magan Vernon
Publication date: April 9th, 2013
by Beautifully Broken Books
Genre: NA Romance

Fiercely liberal Monica Remy prefers to blend in. Despite her tattoos, piercings, and outspoken personality, she transferred to Central to escape—before she finds out that her next door neighbor is the uber conservative governor son, Trey Chapman.

No matter how hard she tries to avoid Trey, he still finds a way to get under her skin. Monica can’t stand his crisp white shirts or his staunch views on women. But she can’t help counting every freckle on his face and wondering what it would feel like to have him stop talking politics and kiss her.

A class debate project forces the unlikely pair to work together, and the political lines are blurred in late-night make out sessions. But despite their fiery chemistry, Trey’s politics threatens to smother their relationship for good.

Excerpt:
"I'm not flirting, Mr. Chapman, I'm trying to work on an assignment." I put the pen down on the table and then pushed it off. "Whoopsies," I said with a small grin.

I slowly got up, circling to the other side of the chair. Then I dipped down low, with my butt raised in the air and picked up the pen, slowly inching back up and throwing my hair back. I shot a grin in Trey's direction. He was squirming in his seat. Some politician-in-training he was.

Our relationship had slowly been progressing, and when I was with him it became easier to push out the past. As long as we stayed away from his fraternity and the Kappa girls. Instead of seeing them we’d spend nights on the couch watching movies or kissing. He never pushed me to go any farther, but the more time I spent with Trey the more I fell for him.

"I guess I need to keep my hands steady," I said in a low voice. "Maybe I should just check some reference books out over there behind that big book case." I pointed over to the stack of reference books behind us and nodded in their direction.

Slowly, I walked over, swaying my body ever so slightly and hoped he would get the hint and follow. Once I was at the other side of the bookshelf, I pressed my back along the books and waited. It was only a few seconds before I heard Trey's slow, methodical steps approaching the shelf. I pulled the collar of his shirt as soon as I saw his feet, dragging him behind the shelf until he was flush against me.

"Do you suppose we could just absorb these reference books by osmosis, Miss Remy?" he said, putting his hands on either side of my waist.

"I just needed a little study break," I whispered, running a finger down the buttons of his shirt.

"But, Miss Remy, we have barely started," he said, teasing me and letting his lips hover just above mine.

"Mr. Chapman, I'm just trying to make the study process go a little smoother. This book case that keeps us hidden from the rest of the library should help," I said with a coy smile and unbuttoned the top button of his shirt.

"Miss Remy, I wouldn't want to start anything to affect your studies." He ran his hand along the low collar of my shirt so delicately slow it made my whole body tremble. "Especially when you’re wearing such a nice outfit."

I couldn't take the teasing anymore. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pressed against him, kissing him hard. He moved his hands to my lower back, running his fingers up and down my spine. Slowly, I moved my hands from his neck and down to his shirt, unbuttoning each button. I wasn't planning on having sex in the library, or sex at all for that matter, but I didn't want the button marks that I usually had all over me from his shirts.

Once I got the last button undone I pulled him back to me. The material of his undershirt was so thin I could feel every ripple of his abs on my stomach. He really was a fine specimen of a man. His lips trailed down my neck and to my collarbone. I moaned softly when he nibbled at the sensitive skin above my chest.

He pulled his lips back up to my ear and whispered, "This is a library, Miss Remy."

I bit my lip. "Sorry, Mr. Chapman, it won't happen again."

He nipped at my ear lobe and then licked the same spot. "But I love it when it does."

I gasped and then buried my face in his, trying to keep quiet but it was hard when my entire body was aching for him. It had been too long since I'd been with anyone. I hadn't wanted to, but with Trey, it was all I wanted. He was all I wanted. I hadn’t had any flashbacks since the party and I thought I would possibly be ready to move on with my life.

"Trey Chapman, you make me crazy," I whispered.

"And you love it," he said placing a quick kiss where my neck met my shoulder and I squirmed, trying not to squeal.

"And I know how to make you crazy." I pulled his lips to mine, acting like I was going to kiss him and then nibbled at his bottom lip, slowly and tenderly.

His eyes rolled back into his head, and I could feel him harden beneath his pants. Two could play at the teasing game. I let go of his lip, placing a soft kiss where my teeth had been.

"You’re too good at that," he whispered, running his hands down my ribcage and landing at the bare skin where my shirt rode up slightly.

State of Emergency  on Amazon | B&N | Goodreads

Excerpt {Prologue}
I don’t know how it happened. Nobody does. There are only theories, empty rhetoric and doomsday prophecies. None of them are right, but none of them are completely wrong, either. They all have a grain of truth. All I know is where I was and what I was doing when it happened.

The day had started out like every other day of my life. I hit the snooze button on my alarm about five times before dragging myself out of bed. I combed back my unruly red hair, threw on some clothes, and went into the kitchen. As usual, my dad hadn’t gone to the grocery store, so breakfast consisted of burnt toast and a teaspoon of olive oil.

Because fatty acids are supposed to be healthy for you.

And because there’s nothing else to eat in my house except a can of string beans from 1999.

Being nineteen, graduated from high school and unemployed, I didn’t have much to do besides surf the internet looking for interesting stories and reading my stack of books from the library. Lately I had applied for a multitude of different jobs, including a flight attendant, car washer and hotel manager. Needless to say, none of those positions panned out.

I’m more of the independent type, getting paid by my dad to help him out with his job as a private detective. He’s been letting me poke around in his cases since I was a freshman in high school. I’m good at it, too. Criminal justice, that is. I even wanted a degree in it, but since I’m flat busted broke and stuck in a two-bedroom home with an empty refrigerator, my options are kind of slim.

Anyway, after I looked for a few jobs online, I closed my laptop and started cleaning the house. My dad and I lived in a small house in the outer suburbs of Los Angeles. Culver City, to be exact. It’s about ten minutes away from Hollywood. The land of spray-on tans and yoga classes.

It’s a nice place to live as long as you don’t drive about five miles in the opposite direction. In that case you’ll end up in the middle of a ghetto. A visit to the grocery store might end up becoming a drive-by shooting.

Unsurprisingly, I’m an introvert.

So that day, that regular, average day, turned out to be a day that not only changed my life – but everybody else’s.

It was the day technology turned on us.

It was the beginning of a major pain in the butt.

Blood and Snow: The Complete Set by RaShelle Workman
Publication date: 2013
Genre: YA Paranormal

Synopsis:
Every thousand years the Vampire Queen selects a new body, always the fairest in the land, and this time she's chosen Snow White.

Snow isn't an ordinary girl. She doesn't know that yet.

With the help of an eccentric old Professor, his seven adoptive sons, and her best friend, Snow learns to control her blood craving. Sort of. She drinks a bloodlust tea, but she'd rather drink from her Hunter.

Or, a human.

She also discovers a whole other realm, one filled with fairies, dragons, and magic. And not only does the Vampire Queen want her, but there's a pendant called the Seal of Gabriel created for Snow by the Vampire Queen's twin sister. And Snow's supposed to use it to restore balance to all magical creatures. Including vampires.

Excerpt:
“I’ve had several seriously sexual day dreams about the new guy. Have you seen him?”

“Cin, I didn’t need to know that.” I jammed my math book into my backpack, and slammed the locker door. Cindy rested her petite frame against the locker next to mine. Her radiant baby blues twinkled. “No, I haven’t seen him. Apparently he’s . . . cute?” I asked.

She snorted. “Cute? No! He isn’t a kitten. He’s hot, sexier than hell, and has a voice that could melt chocolate.”

I had to laugh. Cindy had a way with words. It’d been like that since first grade. We met our first day of school. She’d traded me her Twinkie for my apple with the line, “I don’t think you should eat the apple, Snow White.” We’d been friends almost ten years.

She was different than me in every way, except our blue eyes. She was the epitome of a waif, while I towered over her at five foot eight. She had blond hair that hung long, and was always perfectly styled, mine was a boring dark brown, and came to just below my ears. Her clothes were the latest fashion, as were her nails, makeup, and jewelry, including the heart shaped stud in her belly button. Me, well let’s just say I didn’t own any makeup, and my clothes consisted of baggy jeans, and large old t-shirts, thanks to my seven best friends, and their hand-me-downs. My nails were stubby, and my ears weren’t even pierced. Honestly, I wondered if Cin found me embarrassing sometimes, but I gave her points for sticking around.

“Melt chocolate, huh? He sounds nice.”

“Snow!” She stomped her foot. “Nice isn’t even a proper word. It’s in the same arena as fine, good, okay, and pure.” She shuddered.

“What’s wrong with pure?” I asked, unable to help a laugh, and started toward the gym.

She jogged next to me. “Nothing if you’re Snow White.”

EXCERPT

Looking around apprehensively, I made my way toward the convenience store in hopes of finding a bathroom. The vacant world around me was eerily silent. All I could hear was the creaking of a giant wooden billboard being assaulted by the wind. How long has it been since anyone was here? Through the dark windows I saw a bathroom sign that looked promising, but I couldn’t bring myself to enter. I wonder if it’s safe…

As I stood outside of the store, I noticed a newspaper box still filled with papers. I leaned closer. The headline read, BILLIONS DEAD, and the paper was dated December 9, right before everything had started to shut down. I inserted a quarter and snatched out a paper. Scanning its contents, my mouth grew dry and my body stiffened.

…the H1N1/12 pandemic…
…looting and riotous outbreaks everywhere…
…end of civilization as we know it…
…survivors losing their minds…
…governments can’t control…
…the Apocalypse…

The newspaper slipped from between my fingers. Frozen in place, I was suffocated by the reality of our situation.
This isn’t going away.
The world ended. Thinking of the strange feelings I’d been experiencing, I once again questioned my own sanity. My thoughts were too loud to silence. My heart thudded, and I couldn’t swallow the lump in my throat. Looking out into the abandoned world around me, I realized how alone we really were. I bent down to reclaim the paper and turned on my heels to head back toward the truck, completely awestruck as the words I’d read replayed in my mind. Each was a reminder that the only world I’d ever known had ended.

Author Bio:

Lindsey Fairleigh lives her life with one foot in a book—as long as that book transports her to a magical world or bends the rules of science. Her novels, from post-apocalyptic to time travel and historical fantasy, always offer up a hearty dose of unreality, along with plenty of adventure and romance. When she’s not working on her next novel, Lindsey spends her time reading and trying out new recipes in the kitchen. She lives in the Napa Valley with her loving husband and confused cats.
Lindsey Pogue has always been a little creative. As a child she established a bug hospital on her elementary school soccer field, compiled books of collages as a teenager, and as an adult, expresses herself through writing. Her novels are inspired by her observations of the world around her—whether she’s traveling, people watching, or hiking. When not plotting her next storyline or dreaming up new, brooding characters, Lindsey’s wrapped in blankets watching her favorite action flicks or going on road trips with her own leading man.

I don’t find much more information on Anthony Anderson and eventually stop researching for lack of interesting leads. I spend Monday morning tailing him, instead. I leave the flat at the crack of dawn in my mother’s old blue Fiat Punto and drive all the way up to the Andersons’, my camera on the passenger seat.
I park a little farther up the road, turn off the engine and check the camera. Mr Anderson’s dark Mercedes passes me, at six thirty. I snap two pictures, before turning on the ignition and following him at a reasonable distance.
He goes straight to work and disappears in an underground car park that requires an ID card.
I open the car door and move to the boot. I reach down for one of my short winter duffle jackets and a black cap. I shrug both on and then grab a small parcel, before closing the boot and walking to the Credit Suisse building.
I force myself to walk in as casually as I can, and approach the reception with a look I hope is confident.
‘Morning,’ I say to the young man at the desk. ‘Urgent delivery for Anthony Anderson.’
The young lad narrows his eyes on the parcel and then looks me up and down. I square my jaw. Time to see whether my plan’s going to work.
I pinned a badge on my chest. I made it up on my laptop, with a fake logistic company name and logo, and my name and picture. The cap on my head bears the same logo. It’s actually one of my old white caps that I craftily hand-painted last night.
‘Sure,’ the man says with an easy smile. ‘Leave it here; I’ll see that it’s delivered with the morning mail.’
‘Sorry, but it’s hand delivery only.’ I shrug apologetically.
‘Fine.’ The man motions to one of the men minding the elevator. ‘He’ll escort you.’
That’s not what I had planned. I smile nonetheless and follow the bulky man through the lobby.
The elevator doors close after us and I stand immobile in a corner. Porca vacca, Lexa! Why didn’t you think it through? I’ve been too hasty again. How could I think that they would just let me wander the hallways on my own? My cover will be blown if Anderson catches sight of me, and there I am, being escorted straight to him. Way to go, Lexa!
My escort takes me to an office and we stop in front of a secretary.
‘Parcel for Mr Anderson,’ I tell her, fighting hard to prevent my voice from quivering.
He has to be here, just behind the large wooden doors that bear his name. She’s going to call him and he’ll come right out and see me and then it’ll be goodnight Vienna!

TEN THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT MICHELLE MADOW

1) I love singing—especially Broadway showtunes! I have a mediocre voice though, so I was always in the chorus in school plays. (The high point of my theatre career was when I got the part of Pinocchio at a local theatre group when I was ten. It was downhill from there.) If you want to hear me sing, I have an old video on YouTube (www.youtube.com/michellemadow) of me singing "On My Own" from Les Miserables. But as I warned you, my voice was never “the best,” or good enough to get me a lead part in high school.

2) I was in a pre-professional dance program for ten years. Dance was a HUGE part of my life until my senior year of high school. I did ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, and some tap. When I was in seventh grade I performed with the Russian Ballet in “The Nutcracker”—I had the part of one of the little mice! (When the Russian Ballet tours the country, they cast the children’s roles separately in each city.) I eventually stopped dance in my senior year, because my program wanted me to rehearse until 10:30 PM on Friday nights. I realized I wasn’t going to be a professional dancer, and that I preferred to have a social life.

3) I was in a sorority for my first three years of college. I didn’t plan on doing recruitment, but one of my close friends talked me into attending a “sorority open house,” where I ended up receiving a bid to join the sorority. I didn’t have many friends in the beginning of college, so I decided to join because it would help me branch out. I’m glad I did, because I met my three closest friends in that sorority, and they are still my best friends today. I’m not good at following arbitrary rules though (I question every rule and need to understand WHY it’s in place if I’m going to follow it) so I got in “trouble” with the sorority a lot. I wrote Remembrance when I was a junior, and after signing with an agent in the summer between my junior and senior year of college, I decided to drop out of the sorority in my senior year so I could focus more on my writing.

4) I’ve broken both my ankles—luckily at separate times! The first time was in fourth grade. I was playing a make-believe game with a friend that involved fake-flying. I decided to jump out of a tree. Bad decision. The second time was in sixth grade. I was excited for the end of the school day, and ran to my mom’s car when she arrived to pick me up. I randomly decided to do a ballet leap on the way there, but the ground was icy, and I didn’t land right. Another bad decision.

5) I cannot draw. Seriously … my drawing/painting skills are pathetic. I can barely make a stick figure. Something doesn’t compute right when I try to draw an image. I’m so bad that I can’t even play the game “Draw Something” because I get so frustrated! Part of the reason I made Lizzie an artist in Remembrance is because it’s a skill I highly admire, since I have no concept of how to do it myself.

6) I wish I’d taken writing seriously at a younger age. I never considered writing novels as a serious possibility until I was a junior in college. I wish I could go back in time and tell my fifteen year old self to stop caring about dance so much (since dance was always a short term goal of mine), and to think more long-term and start writing novels in high school. To those of you who are in high school and are already taking writing seriously, I give you major props. I wish I had been more like you when I was your age.

7) I tried to play guitar for years, but was never any good. It’s sad, but true. You see, my dad and brother both play guitar. They’re not experts, but they’re good enough so they can play songs and entertain people. I wanted to be able to do that so badly, so I got a guitar and started playing when I was in tenth grade. I had trouble with strumming at first, but I figured I would improve with practice. After two years of practice, my strumming was still terrible, so I set aside guitar. Then I picked it back up when I was a junior in college. I practiced almost every day when I was a junior and senior, but remained awful at strumming. I could only manage to strum a song right if I focused very hard on it, but then I couldn’t sing along. Even then, the strumming wasn’t that great. Eventually, I realized I just wasn’t naturally talented at guitar, and set it aside again.

8) I was obsessed with Star Wars in fourth grade. I watched the movies multiple times, and started a Star Wars action figure collection (that I still have today). I have a Millennium Falcon for them and everything! In fourth grade I brought my action figures to school, and insisted my friends do the same, so we could create make believe stories set in the Star Wars universe and have our action figures act them out. (Luckily, I went to a very small school then—I had 12 kids in my grade—and I somehow managed to make Star Wars cool, so no one thought I was a total loser.) I can’t imagine what people would have thought of me if I were in public school!

9) I don’t like most cold or room temperature foods. I have this (kind of weird) thing about hot food. I pretty much ONLY eat food that’s hot. I don’t like cereal for breakfast, and I definitely don’t understand the appeal of sushi for dinner. (Cold AND uncooked?! Gross.) I’ll occasionally have a room temperature food as snack (it happens rarely, though). But I never feel satisfied from a meal unless it’s hot.

10) Discovering that I wanted to take writing seriously made me grow as a person more than I had ever thought possible. In high school and the first two years of college, I worried about what people thought of me. I’ve never been naturally “cool,” but I wanted to be part of that crowd so badly that I tried too hard, which resulted in them not liking me. Then I discovered writing in the beginning of my junior year of college, and suddenly what people thought of me wasn’t important anymore. I realized there was no point in trying to be “cool” when there were tons of other awesome people out there who I had more in common with, anyway, and I had more fun hanging out with. I stopped caring about what others thought of me, and learned to be happy and proud of who I actually am. That realization led to me being happier in those last two years of college than I was in the first two years of college and high school combined—and because I was more confident, I ended up with an awesome group of friends!

In the fall of 2008, Michelle saw Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” music video for the first time. She thought up a story to go along with the video, and wrote the first chapter as a homework assignment for class. Her classmates and teacher loved it so much that they wanted to know what happened next, so Michelle continued writing, and that story eventually became Remembrance, the first novel in the Transcend Time Saga. She’s so happy to be able to share this series with you, and hopes you enjoy reading it as much as she loved writing it!
