Clean Sweep ARC Challenge

When I first saw Kimba's post about the Clean Sweep ARC Challenge, I didn't have any ARC's, so I didn't join. Well...that's not an excuse I can use anymore, since now I have lots! Funny how quick things can change, isn't it? :)

Here are the basics (shamelessly copied from Kimba's post):

Together with Kimberly @ The Windy Pages we will be helping you clean up those ARCs. The challenge begins on May 1 and ends on the 31st.

The goal: to read and review as many ARC's as we can. We will have fun challenges each Saturday hosted by some wonderful bloggers and a prize for two luck participants at the end of the challenge. So gather your ARCs and your brooms and lets have some fun!

Rules· Must be read during May 1st and May 31st, 2013

· Starts and ends at midnight in your local time zone

· Physical, audio and digital ARCs are eligible, in any length and genre! (for this challenge an ARC is any book given for review purposes, regardless of release date.)

· Linky will close on May 15th so sign up before you miss out!

· When you post your sign up post, please include the challenge button or links back to the hosting blogs.

· Challenges will be hosted each Saturday with a change to win additional prize

· Grand Prize- TWO winners will be chosen to pick a book of their choice from The Book Depository. (Up to $15 value per book)

· Please post your recap by June 3rd. This is the day that the Rafflecopter will close. Recap post should include a link to the review or Goodreads review with date it will be posted on your blog. (This is for readers who may be reading books way ahead of schedule and don't want to post a review yet!)

· Rafflecopter entries will be awarded for each book review linked, posting about challenge, recap post, participation in challenges, and following.

Challenge Schedule and Rafflecopter will post on April 30th at 4pm (EST) Rafflecopter will close on June 3 at 11:59 (EST)

I'd like to tackle at least four ARC's during the month. It's not a large goal, but hopefully I'll be able to reach it!

Sign ups are still open HERE!

My 2013 Challenges

There are so many great reading challenges out there for this year. Instead of bombarding you with several posts, I'm going to list most of them here. I'll be setting my goals low - that way, when I hit one level, I can move up another. For those challenges I'd like to track progress on, there will (eventually) be separate posts.  :)

Click on any challenge button to see the original post!

No levels with this one - just read one book for each letter of the alphabet.

2013 Witches & Witchcraft Reading Challenge
Any full length book that includes a witch as a main character or major witchcraft elements counts.  My goal: Maiden: Read 6 - 10 Witchy Books.

For this one, the goal is to read at least twelve (12) legally obtained FREE e-books. While twelve is the minimum there is no maximum limit.  My goal:  Coupon Clipper: 12 Books.

Three categories - Series started before 2013;  Series started in 2013;  Series rereads
My goals:  Semi-Serious (1-6 books) in each category.

I'm a little ambitious with this one.  My goal:  Three Howls: Read 36 UF/PNR books in 2013.

Vampires, angels, demons, werewolves and fae. If you can’t pick a favourite, then that’s okay!  The goal of this one is to read at least three books featuring different species of immortals.

Between January 1 and December 31, 2013, read one book in each of the following categories:
  1. A book with up or down (or equivalent) in the title: Deep down True, The Girl Below, The Diva Digs up the Dirt
  2. A book with something you'd find in your kitchen in the title: Loose Lips Sink Ships, The Knife of Never Letting Go, Breadcrumbs
  3. A book with a party or celebration in the title: A Feast for Crows, A Wedding in Haiti, Cocktail Hour under the Tree of Forgetfulness
  4. A book with fire (or equivalent) in the title: Burning for Revenge, Fireworks over Toccoa, Catching Fire
  5. A book with an emotion in the title: Baltimore Blues, Say You're Sorry, Dreams of Joy
  6. A book with lost or found (or equivalent) in the title: The Book of Lost Fragrances, The World We Found, A Discovery of Witches
The book titles are just suggestions, you can read whatever book you want to fit the category.

There are two categories for this one.  For Number of Series Caught Up On, my goal is 6-10: Series Lover. For Number of Books Read my goal is 11-15: Book Connoisseur.

The goal: To read as many sequels as you can. You set your goal at whatever number works for you. My goal: 15 sequels.
The goal is to read at least one book featuring each of these paranormal creatures:
  • Vampires
  • Werewolves/Shifters
  • Fey
  • Angels/Nephilim
  • Mermaids
  • Dragons
  • Zombies
  • Demons
  • Witches/Wizards
  • Ghosts
  • Aliens
  • Other (ie: sirens, unicorns, centaurs, timetravel etc.)
And now for a few ambitious ones!

I've also signed up for the 2013 e-book Challenge and the 2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge.  Looks like it'll be a busy year!
Have you signed up for any of these? Are there others I might have missed? Let me know in the comments!

Take Control of Your TBR Pile Challenge - March 1st-31st

No matter how hard I try or how many books I read, my TBR list keeps getting longer, not shorter. No doubt this is caused (in part) by all the wonderful books I see fellow bloggers post about - I just HAVE to add them!

Well, for the entire month of March, I'll be participating in the Take Control of Your TBR Pile challenge, hosted by Kimba over at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Here are the rules:

  • Link-up! This is open to everyone. If you do not have a blog then link your Facebook or Goodreads account.
  • Beginning March 1st, 2013 and ending March 31, 2013 at midnight read books from your TBR pile. ALL books must have been published before March 2013.
  • Post a review to Goodreads, your blog or Facebook then link it to the Rafflecopter for an entry.
  • Rafflecopter will close on April 2, 2013 at midnight and a winner will be chosen. Open internationally as long as Book Depository or Barnes and Noble ship to you. Prize: New 2013 release. I will do pre-orders as well.
Also of note:
  • Every book you read earns you one entry into a Rafflecopter drawing to win a new 2013 release of your choice!
  • You can use hastag #TakeControlTBR on twitter and share your progress. Share the Take Control Button or this post on your blog, Facebook or twitter to earn an extra entry for each place you share. (Rafflecopter will post March 1st, so be sure and enter them)
  • This challenge can be done in conjunction with any other TBR challenge as long as the book is read between March 1st and 31st.
So what are you waiting for?  Click on the image above and take control of that pile!!

2013 e-book Challenge

Since I purchased my Kindle Fire a little more than a year ago, I've read very few physical books.  I figured this challenge was perfect for me to try!

The challenge is being hosted by Workaday Reads, and there will be a giveaway at the end of the year for those who meet (or exceed) their goals!  My goal right now is Memory stick – 50 ebooks.  I'm pretty sure I'll be moving up a level, but again - starting small!

Anybody want to join me on this challenge?

2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge

Here's the first challenge I'm participating in.  It was seeing this challenge when it was first announced that made me decide to start blogging!

Right now, my goal is 11-20 - A Friendly Hug.  I have tons on my TBR list, but I figure I'll start small!

The 2013 TBR PILE Reading Challenge is being hosted by six different bloggers, with a giveaway each month!  Check out the link for all the details!!
