Cover Reveal: Skinless by L.M. Davis

Blurb
Looking at Luca, who’s just saved my life, I can’t respond. No explanation I might offer will satisfy after all of the extraordinary things he’s just witnessed. Ankh

All I can say is when the girl I like looks at me with wide, freaked out eyes and then runs away, the only thing that I can do run after her. Even if she didn’t ask me, even if she told me not to, I’m not superman enough to fight the instinct to protect herLuca

AnCaela Murphy's body is a ticking bomb that only her mom can defuse. The problem: her mother is missing and presumed taken by the Skinless, bogeymen from Ankh’s home world who've been hunting her family ever since they fled that world and certain death. With help from Luca, a boy whose touch confuses and who refuses to back down, Ankh races against time to find her mother before the bomb inside of her detonates, taking her life.  Tracking the Skinless across the country, the pair search for her mother and uncover the horrifying truth behind the generation's old war.

Bio:
L.M. Davis loves great storytelling. She needs nothing more than a good book and a comfy chair to be happy. She was born in the south, raised in the north, and has a few degrees under her belt. She doesn't like to admit it, but she may have something of a "shifter" fetish. She still hasn’t gotten her black cat, but she thinks about it every day. Her thoughts go something like this: "I really should get a cat." For now, she contents herself with spoiling the pets of her friends and family.
She is the author of Interlopers: A Shifters Novel, Posers: A Shifters Novel, and Skinless

No matter how hard she tries to avoid Trey, he still finds a way to get under her skin. Monica can’t stand his crisp white shirts or his staunch views on women. But she can’t help counting every freckle on his face and wondering what it would feel like to have him stop talking politics and kiss her.

Congrats to the entire Vernon family on the new addition :)

Hi Magan! Welcome to Phantasmic Reads. It's great to have you here today!

Did you really get in trouble for passing around a V.C. Andrews book in school? Which book was it? :) It turns out that letting your friends read the sex scenes from The Landry series in sixth grade science class is highly frowned upon. Who knew?

You say you've never been to Disney World. Do you have any plans to change that someday? I have two little girls who I'm just waiting to be old enough and then I’m booking my first ticket there!

What was the inspiration to write a NA novel with political elements? I was a poli-sci major in college and always fascinated by the topic. It wasn't until an episode of New Girl in which Schmidt pretended to be Mitt Romney's son that it really came into fruition.

Where and when do you prefer to do your writing? I can write anywhere, literally, but usually I like sitting in the atrium at work and writing. No internet to distract me.

Do you have an interesting writing quirk? What is it? I don’t write linear. I write the beginning on my computer and the end on my iPad.

What are your pet peeves? People who don't capitalize "i"

What's your guilty pleasure? Teen Mom 2

What do you like to do when you're not writing? Play with my daughters

Do you have any unique talents or hobbies? Uhhh...I have a talent for memorizing stupid movie quotes.

Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover? Ebooks, I can read anywhere and stop and start a new book right away.

What are you currently reading, or what did you recently finish? One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy. Cute so far.

Are you a person who makes their bed in the morning, or do you not see much point? By the time I get myself and my kids ready I barely have time to breathe let alone make the bed! Lol

What are three things you never leave the house without? Cell phone, keys, ID

Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination? Central College is based around the college I went to, Illinois State University, so I had Monica's same classes and worked at the same coffee shop.

Who is your favorite character from your book and why? John Boy. I just loved every thing that came out of his mouth.

How about your least favorite character?  What makes them less appealing to you? Joey and Josh were really hard to write for obvious reasons and I had to push through that to move the story forward.

Which character speaks the loudest, to you? Do any of them clamor to be heard over the others? John Boy. For some reason I just love the foul mouthed boy.

What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read? My creative writing teacher in HS told me a writer should always be a reader so I always find time to read. I’m a big legal thriller fan, actually. And of course NA.

If a fairy godmother told you could be put into the world of your favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why? oh tough one...um....Harry Potter probably. Hook up with Draco and do some magic...in more ways than one.

If you could have dinner with any three authors, who would you choose and why? Lauren Myracle, Jodi Picoult, and Gayle Forman. Each woman writes grief and love so beautifully that I would love a dinner convo with them.

How do you get past writer’s block or distractions like the internet? I just keep writing. I’ll switch scenes or do word sprints and reward myself with twitter.

Favorite book from childhood? Little Critter

Do you ever write in your PJ’s? Every night :)

Do you have any pets? I have an American Staffordshire terrier named Snogs. A big baby.

Name a place you'd love to visit someday? So many. I always wanted to visit Sicily where my family is from and was blessed to be able to do that in 2010.

Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers? Never quit!

Is there anything that you would like to say to your readers and fans? Thank you so much for taking a chance on an indie author. You are all the reason that I keep writing :)

Have you ever gone out in public with your shirt on backwards, or your slippers on, and when realizing it, just said screw it? Just about everyday of my pregnancy, lol.

Speed Round:

The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less: Sexy, witty, emotional. The Only Exception is a must read.
Pen or pencil? Pen
Milk, white, or dark chocolate? White
Dogs or cats? Dogs
Pie or cake? Cookies :)
Plotter or pantser? Pantser
Coffee or tea? Coffee
If you could have any superpower what would you choose? Flying!

Thanks again for visiting with us today, Magan!

[Blog Tour] Review & Giveaway - Devour by Megan Duncan

You never know how strong you are until something makes you choose between humanity, and the beast.

As Claire descended deep into the ancient tomb; laying to rest the bodies of the fallen, she wondered if time healed all wounds, would an eternity be long enough? Still recovering from a brutal attack that nearly killed her, she refused to let evil win. Pain and destruction glared at her everywhere she went. Nothing and no one would ever be safe until Baal was not only defeated, but destroyed. Fueled by her thirst for revenge, she traveled with her father to the ‘old world’, seeking the aide of a long forgotten ally. Will their quest for help lead to their salvation, or is it only the first step in their annihilation?

Who wouldn't want to live in such a gorgeous palace and become the daughter of a king and queen?
This place I had never known felt more like home in that moment then in any other place I had ever been.
Darkness swallowed the room, and I snuggled back into my covers, ready to revisit the world of slumber. However, the tickets had apparently sold out.
After reading the entire Warm Delicacy trilogy, a review specific to Devour  would be a challenge. This will be more of an overall review of all three books. I should have written reviews in between each book, but as soon as I finished one, I started the next. Right there is a sign of a very good series!

Devour  is the finale in the series that begins with Savor  and continues in Indulge. Claire has been very busy throughout the books, and even though she's barely eighteen, she handles most everything very well. I'd say even better than a lot of adults would. :)

Savor,  Indulge, and Devour  are all well-written, and Megan Duncan does a wonderful job showing readers exactly what Claire's world is like. The descriptions and details are perfectly balanced - not too little, not too much.

We meet many new people along the journey - friends, family, and enemies. Every character is richly developed with their own voices and personalities. From Claire herself to Ione, Bennett, and Arrick, every single character has a story of their own, and we learn about them all through Claire's eyes.

Megan Duncan has a fantastic way of weaving a story. Devour  sees a resolution to the conflict that has plagued Claire and company, and there is nothing disappointing about the journey. For lovers of both YA/NA and/or vampires, I highly recommend this wonderful series. Start with Savor - and fall in love with Claire and an amazing cast of characters!

[Blog Tour] Spotlight, Playlist, & Giveaway - Wolf Spell by M.R. Polish

With a death starts a new beginning...

Eighteen-year-old Esmerelda thinks she’s just a normal girl, but all of that changes the day of her mom’s funeral, when a warlock, intent on using her special powers, kidnaps her. Powers she didn’t know existed. Thrown in the middle of a magical battle, Es struggles to learn her magic while fleeing both vampires and warlocks, at the same time, hunting for the witches that can help defeat her adversary. The only problem is that they are dead.

Thankfully, she has the help of Jarak—her Guardian—who quickly captures her heart, but she wonders if she can win his? Just when she thinks Jarak is the one for her, Ian appears with daggers drawn to save Es from a vampire attack. Ian is cocky and rude, but there is something magnetic about him—something that attracts her to him. With her heart torn between two men, she faces the foes that are out for her blood. Can Es do the unthinkable and awaken them from their graves before time runs out?

And here's a peek at M.R.'s playlist for Wolf Spell!

If I am not producing magic potions, traveling to far off lands and falling in love with mythical creatures, then I am awake - tripping over toys, chasing my kids and conjuring ways to unknowingly booby trap our house for my husband. (Yes its unknowingly, I swear I never placed the tiny plastic army man in his path for him to find in the dark of midnight!) I love my husband and my four wonderful children (all of whom help with the booby traps!) We are Nevadians and are happy, although I envy and miss the beautiful mountains of Idaho. I love writing Young Adult and Adult Fantasy and Paranormal with Romance, although you never know what could show up in my books!

Book Blast & Giveaway: Silver-White by Shawn Underhill

“The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep.”
~ Robert Frost
*Evie’s family has been holding out on her …
Big time.
On an unexpected visit to her grandparents’ house in New Hampshire’s secluded North Woods, the sixteen-year-old literally runs into the truth of the long-hidden family secrets, and finds herself thrust without warning into the clandestine world of the Great North Pack—a wild and exhilarating world of rugged beauty, heart-pounding adventures, and long nights running under a sea of stars … but as she’s set to discover, a world also fraught with potential dangers lurking in the shadows.

Available for $.99 on Amazon!

Praise for Silver-White:
"Simply put, this book was amazing. I've read more fantasy novels than I can count, but this one is certainly one of the best. The emotions portrayed throughout the book manifest in the reader, and the imagery is beautiful. The heroine isn't some wishy-washy pansy that screams at everything, and the focus of the story isn't on some unbelievably beautiful teenage girl who suddenly becomes the biggest, baddest member of her species falling in love with some big, bad, sexy member of her new found species. It's about a girl becoming something she never knew existed, finding her place within the pack family she values more than ever before, and an age-old feud that threatens everything she loves. The story is fast-paced and gripping, and the purely wild emotions the heroine feels when with her pack come up off the pages and make the reader smile."-Morgan-Leigh, Amazon reviewer

Shawn is a part-time writer from New Hampshire, where he spends his free time hiking in the mountains, camping, racing dirt bikes, or anything else that keeps him outdoors. Dogs are his very favorite people. He is also the author of the novel All Things Different.

“A thrilling, wholly satisfying first book to a new young adult series. It will keep you wanting more.” –Valentina Cano, Carabosse’s Library

“Beyond the Eyes is haunting yet passionate. This breakout novel is quick and hip, a saucy must-read.”–Charles Land, Judas Pistol

Paige knows evil exists in this world,  but she never imagined it would want something from her.

After a ghostly voice whispers a haunting message to seventeen-year-old Paige Reed, Paige’s life takes a nightmarish turn. Unwilling to tell her friends about the supernatural occurrences happening in her life, Paige feels more alone than ever–until she meets Nathan Caswell.

Nathan is not only hot, but seems to peer into Paige’s soul, evoking a magnetic energy between them that cannot be denied. But he’s no ordinary guy. He tracks dark spirits, and becomes alarmed when they set their sights on Paige.

And then there are the two power-hungry dark spirits who believe Paige can find King Solomon’s magical ring for them, because when her father was alive, he was close to finding it. If Paige doesn’t comply with their demands, they’ll kill her.

Paige is forced to dig deep into her father’s past and unearths shocking secrets about him and his bloodline. With the past and present colliding, Paige is only sure about two things in her life: she needs to outwit the dark spirits to stay alive, and she’s completely and helplessly in love with Nathan.

Rebekkah Ford grew up in a family that dealt with the paranormal. Her parents’ Charles and Geri Wilhelm were the Directors of the UFO Investigators League in Fairfield, Ohio, back in the 1970s. They also investigated ghost hauntings and Bigfoot sightings in addition to UFO’s. Growing up in this type of environment and having the passion for writing is what drove Rebekkah at an early age to write stories dealing with the paranormal. At one point in her life, she thought she wanted to be a journalist, and although she enjoyed writing articles, she quickly discovered her real passion was writing fiction. Her fascination with the paranormal is what led her to write the Beyond the Eyes series. Visit her online and read her blog at http://themusingwriter.blogspot.com.

I adore this cover!  The steamy scene with the American flag overlay is brilliant.  The design conveys so much without being overwhelming.  A very stunning cover, and it appears perfect for the story.  What do you think about it?
